Family Sermon Discussion -  Parents use these questions to discuss Sunday’s sermon with your children. Feel free to pick and choose the questions that are most helpful (or add your own). Pick a time that works best for your family, maybe around the dinner table, at bed time or on a drive.

Read the passage together: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

What was the missing ingredient in how the Corinthian church was using spiritual gifts?

What happens when you leave love out of your life?  What effect does it have on your relationships with family and friends?

How is love a better indication of spiritual maturity compared to giftedness?

Read 1 Corinthians 12:7. What is the purpose of spiritual gifts?  Why are gifts and acts of service empty without love?

Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and substitute your name for the word “LOVE”.  Does this describe you?  Now read 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 and substitute “JESUS” for the word “LOVE”.  What does this tell us about what Jesus is like?  How does this give us hope when we fail to love well?

What would it look like for you to love aggressively this week?
